Extension Management – What Is It?

Extension Management allows administrators to control which browser extensions users can install. They can block, allow exceptions, or force-install specific extensions to ensure secure browsing across the organization.

Types of Extension Controls:
  1. Blocked List – Prevents users from downloading or installing specific extensions.
  2. Exceptions List – Allows certain blocked extensions for specific users or groups.
  3. Forced Extensions List – Automatically installs and enforces specific extensions, preventing users from removing them.
Example:

A company wants to block all extensions to prevent security risks. However:
  • The finance team needs a specific accounting extension, so the administrator adds it to the Exceptions List for them.
  • A security extension is essential for all employees, so it is added to the Forced Extensions List, ensuring everyone has it installed and cannot remove it.
