How to fix Ulaa update issue in Windows

We’re excited to announce the release of the new Ulaa MSI installer for the Windows platform on October 15, 2025! Along with this, we’ve updated this support document to assist users in case they encounter any issues with the new MSI installer. Please note that the troubleshooting steps provided below are designed specifically for the new and improved Ulaa Updater V2 to help ensure a smoother experience.

To experience the latest Ulaa update, completely uninstall Ulaa from your Windows device by following this link, then visit ulaa.zoho.in to download and install the new MSI installer. Once installed, the Ulaa Update Assistant will automatically run in the background, keeping your browser smoother, more secure, and always up to date.

Ulaa Update Assistant is responsible for keeping your Ulaa browser up to date. It automatically starts every 5 minutes if it is not already running. However, in rare cases, it may not start on its own. This article explains how to manually start the Ulaa Update Assistant.

Steps to Start Ulaa Update Assistant Manually

1. Check if Update Assistant is running
  • Normally, Ulaa Update Assistant will automatically start every 5 minutes if it is not already active.
  • If it is not running, follow the steps below to start it manually.
2. Start Update Assistant Manually
  • For System-level Installation:
    1. Open C:\Program Files\Zoho\Ulaa\Application\UlaaUpdateAssistant
    2. Right-click on UlaaUpdateAssistant.exe and choose "Run as Administrator" to run it.
  • For User-level Installation:
    1. Open C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Zoho\Ulaa\Application\UlaaUpdateAssistant
    2. Double-click UlaaUpdateAssistant.exe to run it.
3. Apply the Updates
  • Once the Update Assistant is running, it will automatically download and install updates for Ulaa in the background.
  • When the update is ready, a Relaunch button will appear on the Ulaa's About page.
4. Restart Ulaa
  • Click Relaunch button to apply the updates.
  • Relaunching is required to complete the update process.

If the Ulaa Update Assistant is not found in the directories mentioned above, try reinstalling Ulaa by following the steps below

  1. Quit Ulaa and proceed to uninstall Ulaa and Ulaa Update Assistant from the control panel.
  2. Download Ulaa installer directly from https://ulaa.zoho.in/
  3. Double-click on the .msi file
  4. Depending on your preferences, opt for either System-level Installation (impacting all user profiles) or User-level Installation (impacting only the selected user profile)
Notes
Note: Uninstalling Ulaa will not delete data. However, to ensure no risk of data loss, activate sync for each mode before uninstallation by clicking here
Warning
Warning : When uninstalling Ulaa from the Control Panel, ensure the "Also delete your browsing data" option is unchecked, as shown in the screenshot below. If this option is checked, all your browser data, including profiles, bookmarks, extensions, and passwords, will be permanently deleted.
